Being one of the organizers of the Grand Peace Festival (GPF) in Manila, the World CARP Philippines launches one of its major events in the festival, the Coastal-cleaning Project along Manila Coastal Area last December 9, 2007. Spearheaded by its President Aldrin Nituma, the coastal-cleaning project was jointly supported by the Office of the Mayor of Manila and Mayor Alfredo Lim. In its short opening program, the WCARP Adivser for Asia, Dr. Christopher B.W. Kim graced the affiar together with one of the ever-supportive National Advisers of WCARP Philippine chapter USec Josephine Dominguez from the Office of the Presidential Liaison Officer for Political Affairs, Office of the President of the Philippines. It is also noted that the national president of the strong and active NSTP sent thousands of its NSTP student-volunteers to the eco-friendly coastal-cleaning activity.

The cleaning project organized more than 10,000 volunteers from 39 schools, colleges and universities as well as barangay volunteers and have gathered tons of trashes and garbages, woods and other thrown-out objects that destroyed the health and sanitation of the residents and the area respectively. The volunteers pledged to continue the project until next year with and hope that more volunteers will join and support the project.

Meanwhile, the 3-day Bayanihang Kabataan para sa Kaunlaran ng Bayan of BKKB community service and campus cleaning projects in various campuses throughout the country is also launch by WCARP Philippines in consonance to the Grand Peace Festival celebration today, December 11 up to 13, 2007.
